Job Title Systems Administrator

Role Responsibilities We are looking for a Systems Administrator to be based at our central London office, whose objectives are to ensure maximum server and related storage availability, performance, and also to support both external and internal customers.
The primary responsibility of the Systems Administrator is the day-to-day operation of server and storage infrastructure, which is a multiple vendor environment to include; HP, Redhat / RHEL, VMWare and EMC.
Other responsibilities:
• Administrator and maintain all internal operational support systems and infrastructure services such as; web / email services, DNS, authentication servers and other related operational tools
• Ensure maximum systems, storage & services availability through proactive maintenance, monitoring, and subsequent alerting
• Respond rapidly by identifying and resolving any application, database or operating systems related faults
• Manage, troubleshoot and optimise Unix (mainly Linux) servers, storage and related network components
• Provide 3rd line support to the Client Support Group for remote and wireless equipment, work with partners and vendors to resolve any equipment or service issues
• Execute routine system and storage management tasks; to include scheduled changes, executing incident escalation, status or issue reporting
• Preparation of reports on areas of Unix and Database operation to include inventory, utilization and accounting reports.
• Documentation of designs, configurations and procedures for system and storage administration
• Contribute to the design, scope and systems implementation of new solutions for upcoming projects
• Support day-to-day service operation and planning tasks
Skills Required In addition to the list skills and experiences required to meet the Role Responsibilities, the applicant will need to have the following:
• B.Sc. Computer Science or an equivalent technical qualification
• 3+ years’ experience (commercial) of Linux Administration
• 2+ years’ experience of both Server and Storage virtualisation
• 2+ years’ experience of shell scripting (Perl, Python, Bash etc)
• Possess solid monitoring, automation and configuration management
• Knowledge of commands, utilities and concepts such as; Apache, FTP, SMTP, IMAP, POP, SSH, basic permissions, Conf files / Cron Tasks
• The capability and willingness to work occasional long hours and/or under pressure
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Fluent in English – excellent oral and written skills
